Day Two

Today, let’s begin to focus on the five senses. In order to be present with God, we have to be present to ourselves.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN…

Grab your phone and put it in airplane mode.

Now, get in a comfortable posture.

SET A TIMER FOR 10 MINUTES

SLOWLY READ

Psalm 62:1-2 (The Message)

“God, the one and only— I'll wait as long as he says. Everything I need comes from him, so why not? He's solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, An impregnable castle: I'm set for life.”

NOW, LET’S BREATHE

Close your eyes and take five deep breaths.

Breath in through your nose, hold it for 4 seconds, and exhale slowly through your mouth. Don’t rush, patiently breathe.

INVITE GOD INTO THIS MOMENT.

Ask God to eliminate the noise and to speak to you.

When you are ready, invite God into this moment with a simple prayer.

“God, you are the one and only. I will wait patiently for you.”

SIT IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD

Don’t rush. Keep breathing. Begin to notice your body.

What do you feel in your body?

Are you anxious?

Are you frustrated?

How fast is your heart beating?

OFFER A PRAYER TO GOD

“God, you are the one and only. I will wait patiently for you.”

or

“Everything I need comes from you God. You are solid rock under my feet. Breathing room for my soul.”

Repeat as often as needed.

TIMES UP

When the timer goes off, share with God one thing you are grateful for at this moment.

Finally, grab your journal and write down a few sentences about what it felt like to settle.
