Day Three

Today, let’s focus on another of the five senses - our ability to hear.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN…

Grab your phone and put it in airplane mode.

Now, get in a comfortable posture.

SET A TIMER FOR 10 MINUTES

SLOWLY READ

Psalm 5:2-3 (The Message)

“Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you.

Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.”

NOW, LET’S BREATHE

Close your eyes and take five deep breaths.

Breath in through your nose, hold it for 4 seconds, and exhale slowly through your mouth. Don’t rush, patiently breathe.

INVITE GOD INTO THIS MOMENT.

Ask God to eliminate the noise and to speak to you.

When you are ready, invite God into this moment with a simple prayer.

“God, you are my King. My ears wait for you to speak.”

SIT IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD

Don’t rush. Keep breathing. Begin to notice what your hear.

What sounds do you hear in the silence?

What do you hear now that you didn’t hear 5 minutes ago?

OFFER A PRAYER TO GOD

“God I pray to no one but you. Hear my prayer God and I will wait expectantly for you.”

Repeat as often as needed.

ASK GOD

Now, ask God, “what do you want me to know right now?”

Listen for His voice.

TIMES UP

When the timer goes off, share with God one thing you are grateful for at this moment.

Finally, grab your journal and write down a few sentences about what it felt like to settle.
