Day Six

Joy

Today you get to practice The Sabbath! Let’s start your day with an extended period of silence and reflection.

Set aside 30 minutes on your calendar to sit with a few questions. You’ll want this time to be distraction-free, so plan on turning your phone off and being unavailable.

DAILY REFLECTION

Let’s start by

BREATHING

Take three deep breaths to settle your soul.

When you are ready,

INVITE GOD INTO THIS MOMENT.

Ask God to eliminate the noise and to speak to your body, mind and soul.

SLOWLY READ

Matthew 11:28-30 NIV

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

ASK GOD A FEW QUESTIONS

What do you want me to experience today?

What do you desire for me as I rest?

LISTEN

Embrace the silence and fight the urge to speak. Be in the presence of God and listen for his voice.

WRITE IT DOWN

Grab your journal and write down your thoughts and anything God may be speaking to you.

DAILY ACTION

Now go practice Sabbath. You’ve scheduled it, prepared for it. Today, stop working and rest. Do the things that delight your soul. And, invite God into each moment. Experience Him in the big and little moments today as you worship Him through your obedience to Sabbath.
