Day Four
Set aside 15 minutes on your calendar to sit with a few questions. You’ll want this time to be distraction-free, so plan on turning your phone off and being unavailable.
DAILY REFLECTION
Let’s start by
BREATHING
Take three deep breaths to settle your soul.
When you are ready,
INVITE GOD INTO THIS MOMENT.
Ask God to eliminate the noise and to speak to your body, mind and soul.
SLOWLY READ
Isaiah 58:13-14 NIV
If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.
ASK GOD A FEW QUESTIONS
When is the last time I experienced true delight?
What do I believe about having fun?
If I could do any one thing to experience joy, what would it be?
LISTEN
Embrace the silence and fight the urge to speak. Be in the presence of God and listen for his voice.
WRITE IT DOWN
Grab your journal and write down your thoughts and anything God may be speaking to you.
DAILY ACTION
Sabbath should fill our souls at the deepest levels of our heart; where our desires reside. Think about one thing that would delight your soul on your Sabbath. Is reading a great book delightful? Eating your favorite meal? Or, taking a long, unhurried walk through your neighborhood? Make a plan for how you will experience your favorite things on Sabbath.
