Day Five

Today, let’s focus on another of the five senses - our ability to touch.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN…

Grab your phone and put it in airplane mode.

Now, get in a comfortable posture.

SET A TIMER FOR 10 MINUTES

SLOWLY READ

Matthew 9:20-22 (NIV)

Matthew 9:20-22 “Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.” Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment.”

NOW, LET’S BREATHE

Close your eyes and take five deep breaths.

Breath in through your nose, hold it for 4 seconds, and exhale slowly through your mouth. Don’t rush, patiently breathe.

INVITE GOD INTO THIS MOMENT.

Ask God to eliminate the noise and to speak to you.

When you are ready, invite God into this moment with a simple prayer.

“God, I sit quietly before you. Settle my spirit so that I may touch you.”

SIT IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD

Don’t rush. Keep breathing. Begin to notice what you are touching right now.

What does it feel like?

What is its shape?

Is it rough or smooth?

OFFER A PRAYER TO GOD

“God, I simply want to touch the edge of your cloak so that you may heal me.”

Repeat as often as needed.

TIMES UP

When the timer goes off, share with God one thing you are grateful for at this moment.

Finally, grab your journal and write down a few sentences about what it felt like to settle.
