Day Three
Set aside 15 minutes on your calendar to sit with a few questions. You’ll want this time to be distraction-free, so plan on turning your phone off and being unavailable.
DAILY REFLECTION
Let’s start by
BREATHING
Take three deep breaths to settle your soul.
When you are ready,
INVITE GOD INTO THIS MOMENT.
Ask God to eliminate the noise and to speak to your body, mind and soul.
SLOWLY READ
Hebrews 4:9-11 NLT
“So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.”
ASK GOD A FEW QUESTIONS
What do I believe about rest?
Is it lazy? Slothful? Nice to have but not needed?
When was the last time I woke up fully rested?
LISTEN
Embrace the silence and fight the urge to speak. Be in the presence of God and listen for his voice.
WRITE IT DOWN
Grab your journal and write down your thoughts and anything God may be speaking to you.
DAILY ACTION
An important part of deep rest is sleep. For your Sabbath, make a plan for how you will sleep. Think about how you will get an hour more sleep than you normally do and plan on it. This can be going to be an hour early, sleeping in an hour later, or taking a mid day nap!
